YMKG Day Parade 2019

Join the Brigits for a fun-filled day at the 2019 Gasparilla Day Parade. We are number 17 in the line up.

 

Each Brigit is responsible for her guests. Guests need to follow all rules and costume guidelines of the Krewe and parade organizers. Costumes must be worn at all times.

Detailed information from the Parade Committee is below.

First for bead drop off prior to the parade:   Thursday, January 24th. from 4 p.m. until 7:30 p.m.   and again Friday, January 25th. from noon until 3 p.m.  Wristbands which anyone entering the staging area must sign for and wear will be distributed at IMBOLC.  If you need to make other arrangements to obtain your wristband, call Dorothy at 813-239-7892. 

 

General information:

2019 Ye Mystic Krewe of Gasparilla Parade of Pirates is celebrating its 115th. year and is the 3rd. largest parade in the U.S. 

 

Celebrations include the Gasparilla Sunday after brunch and Jazz Festival (family friendly) on Sunday, January 27th. at Curtis Hixon Park from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.  This is a free event.  VIP tickets can be obtained at the Gasparilla Website.  If you arrive dressed in costume and are one of the first 250, you  will receive a free drink.

 

St. Brigit is number 17 in the staging area.  Our float will be delivered between 9 and 10 a.m.

 

Invasion – sails at 11:30 from Ballast Point arriving at the Convention Center at 1 p.m.  The Parade of Pirates is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.  at Bay to Bay and Bayshore Blvd.   Parade ends at Cass and Ashley Streets.  The parade consists of 114 floats, 6 high school bands, 12 dignitaries, and 7 specialty units.

 

WFLA Channel 8 will be located at Newport and Delaware.  If they are not on a commercial break when we pass, our float will be televised.   They will have a person with a sign notifying us to “perform now”  as we will be fast approaching the cameras.   Our Krewe and float will be outstanding.

 

If we have members/guests who want to get off the float prior to parade end, we will notify our driver.  A parade marshal will direct the driver to the side of the road on Ashley before Cass where he will make a brief stop to allow for safe exit from the float.  The float will continue on past the end of the parade to Cass St. and Delaware for disbanding and travel prep.  See attached maps.

 

Rules and Safety reminders per YMKG:

 

Everyone in the staging area must have a wrist band.  

 

While in the staging area, keep music at a reasonable level.   We must be considerate of nearby residences and businesses.

 

No handing out or throwing of beads in any part of the staging area or disbanding area.   Do not throw beads in the bay. All throwing beads must meet the federal guidelines for lead and phthalate content.  

 

Krewe members and guests must be in appropriate costume.  Per YMKG, wearing of pirate costumes or themes is discouraged.  Costumes which are unique to our organization and clearly identifiable are encouraged and expected.  Refer to our website for information on costume guidelines.

 

We will have 1 safety officer and 4 safety monitors.  They are there for our safety and enjoyment.   If you are asked to do something , please comply.  If you have any issues with security/safety monitors, notify one of the Board Members immediately to resolve the matter.    

 

No smoking of any kind on the float  (no exceptions). 

No illegal substances.

No firearms.

Drinks must be in opaque cups.  

 

Clean up around staging area prior moving.
