Please watch out for each other and follow these rules exactly. Everyone signing this waiver acknowledges that attending a parade or event is a hazardous activity, assumes all risk of injury, death or property damage, and releases the Krewe of St. Brigit of any liability whatsoever.
On the parade route
- Walk in front of the float only. Never pass the back corner. Walking alongside the float is cautioned.
- All children under 7 must ride the float. Any child walking must have adult supervision at all times.
- No jumping on or off the float during the parade. Board and exit only before or after the event, and only once the float has come to a complete stop.
- Don't walk too far ahead. Stay with your group, and watch for other floats, units and obstructions in the road and around corners.
- Never pick beads up off the ground. Always throw underhand, and make eye contact rather than throwing randomly into the crowd.
- No roller blades, skates, high heels or other non-walking shoes.
- Stay away from the crowd. People have been known to grab at both riders and beads.
- Don't give or throw beads to police officers, parade marshals or other officials.
- Don't throw anything until float officials give permission at the parade starting point.
On and around the float
- Never walk or stand between the tow vehicle and the float, for any reason, at any time. Stay several feet from all sides of the vehicle and float.
- Don't linger on or near the stairs; they're a passageway only.
- Clean up your own trash before you leave the float.
- No glass containers.
- No smoking or vaping on or near the float.
- Stay well clear of the tow vehicle and float at turns, narrowings, obstructions and bends, where you can get pinned or trapped.
Conduct
- Be kind, and respect all parade officials including police, St. Brigit and host krewe marshals.
- Don't throw food at the crowd.
- Anyone who violates these rules will be asked to leave or escorted away from the parade immediately.
- Look out for fellow members and guests, and avoid all other floats, vehicles and obstructions along the route.
- Security personnel have complete authority and must be obeyed without exception.
Grievances
Guests and members are encouraged to resolve grievances between themselves in a loving and respectful manner, keeping St. Brigit's spirit of generosity and kindness. Matters of harassment, discrimination, safety, misconduct, dishonesty or any other action negatively affecting a guest must be reported immediately to a krewe member. If a member is involved, a board member or PIC must be notified immediately and the matter will be handled privately and immediately according to our bylaws.
